About the Personal Consultancy Process
Personal consultancy
Personal consultancy blends the depth of counselling with the direction of coaching, moving fluidly between the two depending on what a session calls for. It suits people holding several things at once, making sense of the past while also needing to move forward now, or navigating change on more than one front at the same time.
What sessions are like
There's no fixed split between "therapy time" and "coaching time", sessions follow whatever's most alive for you that week. Some will feel exploratory, following a feeling or pattern back to where it started. Others will feel practical and forward-looking, working out a next step. Most sit somewhere between the two, holding both grief and planning, or both reflection and action, without needing to separate them.
How change happens
Change tends to come from two directions meeting in the middle, understanding why something developed the way it did, and building the clarity to do something different going forward. Over time, you may notice a clearer sense of what's actually yours, separate from what you inherited or absorbed from others, and steadier decision-making even while still processing something difficult.
Length and flexibility
This is typically the most flexible of the three ways of working, session length, frequency, and focus can all shift as your situation does. Some people use it during a specific period of significant change; others keep it as an ongoing space that flexes between depth and direction as needed.
You don't need to arrive knowing which mode you need on a given day, that's part of what this way of working is for. If you're holding more than one thing at once and aren't sure whether counselling or coaching alone fits, this is often the better starting point.
